Well, it's been a while I must admit to go out shooting at my favourite time - middle of the night.
Not quite sure how the image will display, but there are stars overhead.
2 exposures:
Pier: 120 secs @ F16
sky: 60 secs @ F8
D300 with Sigma 20mm
Any comments are very welcome, good or bad !

Nice Drew. I can't see the stars very well, but I guess that's the compression. Also there appears to be a back blob of some kind just near the top of the flag pole... I like the reflection of the lights in the water and the stillness. This has a really subtle feel to it, I think it needs to be seen bigger to be appreciated..
It's a nice image, that's been spoilt by the processing. There seems to be a very obvious "join" between the light of the pier and darkness of the sky.
Hate to say it...but we're a nature photography based site, and nature's a bit lacking in this one, especially as the stars aren't really very visible ....

Landscapes aren't nature now? Besides theres a forum for 'man and the environment' and I believed the regional forums accepted all types of landscapes as well as wildlife..............
The link is much better Drew. I prefer the crop, and you can see the stars well.
The moderators of each regional forum set the guidlines for that forum.
Whilst UKNP encourages landscape photography this regional forum does not accept all types of landscapes, only landscapes were the significant element/intent of the image is nature related. In this case, based on the first image presented, it is debateable since the main visable subject of the photo is clearly the peir.
As moderators of UKNP we have to draw the line somewhere and I agree with Nick that this does cross that subjective line.
No offense intended - we simply have a subjective job to do and we do it.
We prefer to see a bit more 'nature' in the shots than is apparent in this one. This is more of a travel/manscape type shot and would actually be better suited to the 'off-topic photos' forum or to our sister site, travelphotographers.net .
I agree with you about where line is, and in my defence the stars have not shown up as well as I had hoped - so that's my bad.
I appreciate this is strictly for wildlife photographers, my intentions were not to cause squabbles or anything like that but to get an honest opinion from fellow professionals simple as that. In regards to the sister site I hadn't come across it in all honesty.
Thanks for the comments and advice, it is dually noted !
