I’m headed to Yoho, Banff, and Jasper for the next two weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on locations and resources?

Pick up a copy of Darwin Wiggett's book on photographing the Canadian Rockies, he'll have more than enough suggestions for you.

Have fun up there David, those mountains are real beauts.

I was up there for two weeks last year with Darren Kilgore; you can see my report and gallery here. The images are all labeled with the location/park name.

Darren has an incredible trip report from his 2005 trip on his website. It's the most comprehensive report I've come across and was very helpful in planning our 2007 trip.

I'll also second David's suggestion; Darwin's book is a great resource and we used it heavily on our trip.

The entire area is stunningly beautiful. It's one mesmerizing scene after another, but there were surprisingly few people about at sunrise and sunset. Even at Moraine Lake, we had it to ourselves both days that we shot there. Tough to pick a favorite location, but, despite my aversion to icons, Moraine Lake was probably the highlight of the trip. The image above was shot from the bridge that crosses the Athabasca River, just outside of Jasper - another favorite spot.

Very beautiful area. We started in Vancouver and our first camp spot was at Lac Lahache. We then went up to Prince George and went east from there to Purdon Lake (Beautiful) where we set up camp two and swam and rode our bikes. Little did we realize it was nothing compared to the unbelievable scenery we were going to encounter over the next 3-4 days.about 100 miles east of Prince George is where the Rockies start. Glaciers, rivers massive and numerous snow covered peaks. Then we went south from Jasper into Lake Louise, Revelstoke and the the Okanogan. We went through Kelona (which is like Central Oregon) and across the boarder at Osoyoos. We took a week and camped at six places in Canada and two in Washington. Absolutly an amazing area I think everyone should see. Hope you have a great trip!
