Coot
These are everywhere but are so unpredictable!

Canon 400D
Canon EF100-400L IS USM
ISO 100
1/200sec
f7.1
AV Priority
Metering Mode: Pattern
Hand held

RAW processed to 3 exposures, tonemapped in Photomatix (as an experiement to see if i can get any more details out of the body), and usual tweaks in Photoshop CS3

PS. ive only been on here for under a week, and the tips and stuff have definately been of help!

Acutually I would suggest that this is over-processed simply because it appears a wee bit washed out and lacking contrast/tonality; it also needs sharpening a wee bit. I would be tempted to process once and then D&B where you feel you need additional detail.
All that said the bird is reasonably positioned, the head turn is nice and the weed provides added interest.

a nicely composed image, I agree with Tom re. the processing.

I would go along with whats been said too. Its nice though to see the white on the head exposed well. Coots can be terrible to get that bit right.
Keep at it !

I too agree with the nits on processing, but I think it could do with a little A/C rotation as well.
Nice comp and detail with the mouthful of weeds.

Hi Kwok,

Nice coot image! If shot in RAW then it'll be no problem starting again with the processing and turning this into a belter!
