I also posted this in Flora, but thought I would post here just to give this forum a little activity. Where is everyone?
Your thoughts are appreciated and if anyone knows the name of this flower, that would be great. From my Audubon guide to NA Flowers, the closest I can guess is a relation to the tiger lily, or Leopard Lily or Panther Lily. Anyone?
So that's what you were doing down by the creek! I love the color and the light. I think it needs someting, though; the flower stalk looks a little lonesome. You did get a nice scan.
I always thought these were Tiger Lilies, but I've been wrong before. If you find out what it is,let us know.
I finally sent all my film to A&I for processing, so I should be able to post some things next week.
I was worried what you were doing under the sheet by the creek, but it is a great relief to know that you were only capturing this little beauty of a plant, whatever the heck it is called. Ask MG, bet he knows. Turned out really nice. Glad to see LF guys doing some nice macro work, keeping up with the digital dogs.
Hey Lon, not to worry, we are all still here, atleast the "oldER" LF folks so far.
This is an excellent closeup image. The colors are wonderful throughout the plant, and the short DOF and darker BG is just perfect and enchances the outline of the main plant theme too.
By the way, is this your number one pick from the trip? If not it sure could be a top contender IMO. Of course your personal number two selection that you posted in ESS earlier could be IMO as well.
Beautiful image Lon. Of all the angles to view the flowers on the stem, this would be the winner IMO. As for an id, I'm quite inexperience but when I saw the patterns the first thing that popped into my head was Tiger Lily. Been quite a while since I've actually seen these, and when I do its usually amidst an incredible bloom with buzzing mosquitos....thanks for bringing back the memories with this photo

Not easy work at all pointing one's big view camera at floral subjects like this. In my own work, not something I feel confident challenging. Expsoure is not easy and your's is perfect. Good subject with the one rear soft flower adequately presented.
Lilium parvum, aka tiger lily, aka small leopard lily, aka alpine lily. Our other common tiger lily, Kelley's tiger lily with light orange hued petals with darker spots has re-curved back petals,

Very nice. I was going to say Tiger Lily as well.
