Indian Peaks Wilderness - Colorado
I guess technically Red Rock Lake isn't in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, but I figure most people consider all of the Brainard Lakes Rec. area as part of the wilderness area. Made a quick trip up here this morning before work. Didn't have time to hike out to any of the lakes past Brainard Lake so I can't report on the wildflower conditions. Sorry. Sunrise was mostly disappointing. The heavy brown cloud over the Denver metro area pretty much washed out any color and of course there was nary a cloud to be seen over the peaks. Shortly after sunrise, the sun had risen above the brown cloud. Not the nice warm light at dawn, but the peaks looked a lot better. Thanks for looking.
Doug, at least you had a good morning in a beautiful location. In Oklahoma, we've been close to 100 degrees for what seems like months now, and it doesn't cool off much at night, either.

The highs here in Portland have been in the low-to-mid 70s for the last several weeks. High 50s at night.
The only problem with the Indian Peaks is that it is so close to the city and gets all the pollution and light pollution and the rediculous crowds
