Whirlygig beetle.
This is just for you !! You told me to photograph one of these !! So three days later !. What a pain. One landed in my full rainwater butt so I was able get a low POv !!( Crikey ! JR on a low POV! )But will they stop still? No. I seriously have never photographed anything so difficult before. These are with the 150 macro but I am not happy with them. But I will keep at it.
And I hope Major that if one arrives in your garden it gets up your nose !
Good fun though eh ??!
Lets have a competition. Best shot of a whirlygig!

these look like pretty good efforts to me John. If I had a pond or water butt in my garden I'd love to have a go at them myself, they can't be easy.

I can't think of a harder choice of subject, but these are pretty much the best I've ever seen, whether you are happy with them or not. Top marks from me. Eric

Thanks both.
For anyone not familiar with them. These little varmints are about 7 mm long and spend most of their lives dashing around at thirty miles an hour on the water surface in ever decreasing circles ! Usually you get a whole bunch of them together but if you want to photograph one you'll have to single out an individual.
Cheers
