Greetings all,
I was recently wasting time by searching for some of my images, not using my name, just searching for them by their titles and none of them came up. So I was curious how (where?) do you tag them...meaning is the title of the file play the most important role or the metadata or somewhere else?
Probably a question that has been asked and answered a million times, I thought I had the internet figured out
By search, do you mean something like a google image search? Search engines use a variety of information to keyword images for their index, including but not limited to: alt tags, surrounding text, image name, image title tag, etc...Recently google has also added 'google image labeler' that has a human element involved (as opposed to just a spyder algorithm). My guess is that meta data in images is ignored....but if it isn't, it probably has as much weight as any of the other elements. In addition, for search engines like google, image indexing can be incredibly slow. If you are simply trying to see which photos on your website are indexed, go to google images and type in site:www.yoursitehere.com, you can also do this with keywords to see what keywords google is using for your images.
