Another cropping dillema. Horizontal or upright- or none !
This came in whilst I waited for the foxes the other night. Quite late on so a bit muddy.

Hi John,

I think what your "problem"is. I also do not know where I would crop this picture. At first I would say crop it on the top of the picture about 1 cm above the head of Mister Jay. So to get rid of the threes and the lonely grass halm (I hope this is the correct word for the thing on the left).

I took two sheets of paper and put it partly over your picture and it may be better to crop top en left so that there is just one post and a little barb wire. I Think I would have done that if it was mine. I put an modified example of your picture into this reply (hope you don't mind).

Hi Tom
Yes I reckon of the three choices I would go along with that. There's just something about the grass that I liked -it seemed to draw the eye into the pic. Maybe not.

Whilst the grass in your original shot is distracting and I guess probably shouldnt be there it does actually kind of complete the composition here by making a nice circular motion for the eye. Ideally the suggested crop above with the bird facing a little more towards the camera rather than profile would be my suggestion. Tristan
