Zero Sleep Sunrise.....

After about 39 hours without sleep, I tried to lay in bed and all I could think about was getting out and shooting....so I decided to look outside and when I did I saw some nice clouds in the sky....I jumped up and headed out the door.....

down to the Columbia I went. I could see the sky and color starting slowly to brighten up so I tossed on my ND filter and had everything set........then the sky lit up........and I pressed the shutter......

waited, waited, waited, and waited......finally 182 seconds later.....the image was created.....

Color adjustments were made in camera prior to the shot to compensate for the ND filter

Thanks for taking the time to look. I miss hanging out here!

Darren

Camera: Nikon D300

Nice Darren. You're getting some great results with that ND filter. Usually i'm not a fan of including man made objects in landscapes but the bridge leads the eye nicely into the photo. Colors are excellent as well as the 182 seconds worth of motion. Well done.

I know the sleepless feeling. A couple weekends back after a late movie i decided to hit trillium lake for sunrise, then did the Ramona falls loop by 8 am. It's amazing what can be accomplished when everyone's asleep! :toast:

Nicely done. Exposure and colors are super. Time to go to sleep now. :)

Darren,
What a summer.... I've been pretty sick over the past month ( a lot of it I think is just plain exhaustion..... I hope) and I've seen too many great sunrises from my house. I'm glad some of you are getting out and capturing them. I really like everything about this shot. The bridge puts things into perspective . Very nice!

Darren: I love the colors and upper half, but the big log seems too stark for the rest of the image, IMHO.

Wow...what a sky! Well captured.

Great sky...but the fg just doesn't bring anything to the table.

Maybe I need to stay up for 39 hours. I love the results!

Who needs sleep when you can go out and capture one of these.
Like it a lot Darren, nice job, and yes I did get your email... thanks!

I think it would have been excellent without the log or piece of shore on the right... Otherwise, though, the exposure and colors are wonderful..

Love the colors and smooth textures. I'm on the fence about the log. Works as is, but might be very cool with just the bridge for the eye to settle on.

I'd have been napping for that 182 seconds!

I don't mind the inclusion of the log; I kind of like it, but it seems really oddly lit relative to its surroundings. You're just using an ND, not a GND, right? I agree the sky is something else.

Hope you had someone else drive you out/back. Driving with no sleep in 40 hours is, probably not a great idea.
