I was sorting my files and ran across this shot from a year ago in South Carolina. It was a blue bird sky and mid-day. But, I can't be choosey (sp) when I'm on a trip and don't have the luxury of returning to the spot at a different time. To quote Rick Sammon, "If the eye is in focus - you have your shot". I hope it worked. C&C welcome as always.
Thanks for looking.

well done under the conditions, the shadows help cut the bright light and the eye looks good to me:)

Wow Merle, that's pretty sweet with a 135 ... even with the magnification factor of the 20D. Did you crop this a lot or were you really that close? No matter because I sure like the results! Excellent shot!

Good one Merle. The shadow of the egret is a nice bonus.

Wayne: I did some cropping to take out a larger portion of the swamp water - but I actually was that close.. This was taken in the swamp area around one of the old plantation homes and the "critters" were used to folks being around and didn't seem to be very spooked by our being there. Fortunately, the large oaks and spanish moss gave a good shade area. As you can see by the direction of the shadow - it was very close to noon when I got the shot.

Nice shot, Merle - I like the simplicity and the light on the head is really nice. Unfortunately, I've never had any egrets about my photography.
