Sunset over crater lake on my backpacking trip a few weeks back. Really strugging with processing this image, this is a reworked version of one I posted in the critque forums earlier, I appreciate any comments/suggestions...
Thanks,

Excellent Kevin. Its a bit dark and I know my printer would struggle with it, but its a beautiful image.

Nice work Kevin.

Really like the comp and the colors. The first things that I noticed are that the clouds above the ridge seem a little hot. Also the mountains in the reflection are lighter than the actual mountains but the sky reflection looks right.
This is definately worth working on!
Thanks, I'm definitely struggling with this one overall. I agree about it being dark, but when I try to brighten it up it starts to get an unnatural feel to it, can't seem to control it.
The clouds are tough as well.
I should have shot this with two exposures highlights/shadows and tried to blend the two images, haven't tried that technique yet...
Can you post an unedited version here (or a link to one), Kevin?
I tried working on this using Tony Kuyper's Luminosity Mask actions for selective editing and had pretty good success, but the bright cloud is overexposed in this version.
There are some pretty talented 'developers' here in this forum who would gladly assist you in making the most of this fine image.
Also, if you shot this in RAW format, you may be able to 'develop' one version for the highlights and one for the shadows, then blend them together.

I'll second John's comments. There are several here who would be happy to help you with this problem. The luminosity masks will likely help you make the adjustments you need without causing it to look artificial. I think its worth working on.
I will try working with the original file using luminosity masks or maybe try the blending approach. I can try to post a link to an editied jpg file, not sure if that will work for editing tasks..
