'Via Cerebrum'
From last week's Midsummer Hyperthermic Tour of the Utah/Arizona Borderlands.

It was like a blast furnace out there during the day, but those sweet monsoon clouds and light in the mornings and evenings made it all worthwhile...almost.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.....thanks!

Really, really cool shot, and AWESOME title!

I like this shot too. The killer orange just pops out.

I agree with Todd, this is a cool shot! The title really fits.

Very cool. Love the rock texture and colors. I think I'd bump the contrast in the clouds just to separate them from the rock more and add a little more drama. Nice find.

Thanks!
I'll take that idea and run with it, Kalin...I appreciate the feedback.

I like the leading lines here and the oranges really pop but, like Kalin, I'd like to see better separation between the sky and rock. I played with it a little bit making separate layer selections for the sky and rock. If you have CS3 the darkening curve preset works well on the sky (with a little curve moderation). Otherwise the burn tool might be just as effective. For the rock, the linear contrast preset curve works well. Otherwise just lightening it a little would work. My 2 cents anyway.

Awesome shot, John. As soon as I saw it I thought "brains" -- I agree though, just a little more separation between the clouds and rock would enhance it. Love the composition and the oranges certainly pop.

Brilliant!

I agree with Laurent. Brilliant shot. I have to say that I prefer the sky as is. The even tone surrounding the main subject really makes it pop.
