Hi All,
Been looking at all these great photos the past couple weeks and,
I'm thinking about making a last min trip up to the Snowy Range. I've never been up there before and have done very little research on the area. Going to try to head up this afternoon after work for hopefully a nice sunset shot. Stay overnite and get up for sunrise and leave later in the afternoon. What trails do you guys recommend checking out?
I'm only aware of 2 trails the Lakes trail and lake marie falls trail. Any other good ones to hit?
Thanks in advance.
Kurt

Hi Kurt,
I was just up there last weekend and the conditions were great. With the cooler weather, I'd imagine you'll find the same this weekend.
There are some nice sunrise spots 3/4 to a mile up the Lakes Trail which starts at the Mirror Lake Picnic area. Another great trail that we shot from starts at Lewis Lake above the Sugarloaf Campground ($5/day fee area) and heads towards the Gap Lakes. There are lots of nice tarns off to the west of this trail.
Have a great trip!

Thanks for the Great info Scott, are these trailheads marked off Hwy 130 on my way out from Laramie? and the 5$ fee is for camping or is that to get into the park? I think this is a national park so my national park pass should cover it. What about a good spot for Sunset?
By the time I get up there I don't think i'll have much time to look around, It would be best to have a set spot in mind and go right to it.

Scott,
I just looked at your website and love that main photo in your blog about your trip to snowy range. Also noticed your new motorcycle, very nice ride! My ride is a BMW K75S but have been thinking about going to a GS 650 since its a bit shorter than the 1200. I'm up in Northern colorado so if you ever wanna go for a spin let me know.

The Snowy Range is not a National Park so I'm not sure a Park Pass will cover you. You could always call the FS ranger station in Laramie and ask. Not sure there are good sunset spots as the views are looking mostly to the west. Well unless you want a sillouette of the mtns.
Thanks Doug,
I thought that Snowy Range was part of Medicine Bow National Forest?

Kurt it is. But I'm not sure if all areas managed by the Forest Service (Dept. of Agriculture) are covered by the Park Pass or whatever its called now (National Park Service is part of the Dept. of Interior).
The new Federal Parks and Recreational Lands Pass ($80.00) is good in the Snowy Range fee areas.
I was just there 2 days ago. FYI the fowers are stil in great shape
Thanks Guys,
I'm heading out in a few min, just checked radar and it still looks iffy as far as rain goes.

Got back late sat night,
I will definatly be back, didnt get too much hiking in as it was very windy and cold. I'm trying to upload the pics to my pc but I have a problem with the compact flash. I can see the pics fine on the camera but i've tried 2 card readers and 3 pc's and none of them are reading it.
Anyone ever have this happen to them?
