I like the assortment of colours and the background has quite a painterly feel which is very eye-catching. Butterfly looks great but one thing I'm not quite sure about is the way the butterfly appears to be 'floating' in the air as opposed to resting on a visible perch, which is obviously hidden beneath him (or her).
Still a very attractive shot as it is though.

Had exactly the same "floating" thought as Justin

Yes I know what you mean. Its actually on the end of a thistle leaf and in the evening sun as you can see by the colour of the butterfly and the background. It is just the floating effect which I like about it strangely enough and I suppose the standard lens has kept the background more in focus.
Thanks for your interest.

The butterfly is beautifully captured but the 'Matrix'-look background doesn't work for me. Don't mind the 'float' though.

Hi John,
I like the floating or rather the suspended feel of the subject! Cool shot!
Keep at the 150mm Macro you'll get used to it! There funny lenses to master but produce good results (especially after all that hanking you did to get it ).

Thanks.

Maybe its me but I just can't get used to it. I,ve never been a tripod man so that could be something to do with it.
Concerning this shot- the main reason I posted it was because of the unusual late afternoon/ early evening light, and the floating/supended look.
Can't please 'em all.
Cheers

It's a nice shot and I like it John
I also had the very same problem with my 150 Sigma, took me ages to get used to it, so persevere with it John because it's a cracking piece of kit.
