Backlit pine marten
Just processing some images from last summer and hadn't noticed this one before. The lighting I recall was a bit of a nightmare to control and there was only a very small window where the marten was clear of cluttery branches so I've got plenty of near misses. Tried to get it to look up by whistling but the young animal was too intent on the raisins I'd placed along the branch to get it up there!

Canon 1dMII, 500mm lens, ISO 200.

Very envious!!!
Great control of difficult lighting a bit different from the norm!

Very different from the usual Peter.perhaps a tad to the left with the animal if its not a full frame would be nice in my view. No big deal though.
very nice picture.

Hi Peter,

Lovely shot, really like the back lighting. Love the way the shape of the branch matches the arch of the Martens back.

As usual a great shot. Also great feature in this months PP mag with your Bear shots :toast:

Wish I had pictures like these that I `hadn`t noticed`! What a super shot; love the backlighting. How common are these up there?
BTW, has that magazine I sent arrived yet?

Lovely backlighting Peter. Like the stuff in PP and isn't another of your marten shots on the cover of Geographical (if I've remembered right from browsing after my train was cancelled) this month?
