I made this photograph late-spring this year after some abnormally hard rains. The patterns formed by the water flowing over these rapids, along with the late-afternoon light drew my attention. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful colors. I think this is a great shot, I stopped by Banning last week but I apparently don't know the right places to go.

I like the breaking waves, particularly how they line up diagonally, and the lines in the water. The reflections in the water are also excellent. Personally, I think I'd crop a little off the top and make the image more of an abstract image of lines and waves.

Joel, I too agree with Scott on all the comments. A great capture indeed. Now, after I suggest the crop off the top, now I'm thinking,............."man those reflected colors are too pretty to crop". So, make prints both ways!

One of the MWNP's best this year so far. I really really like this one. The patterns and textures are perfect. I like shooting this kind of thing as well and the lesson here, as accomplished by Joel, is you don't need to polarize all the time. When you do, yes it takes off glare, but you looks the wonderful color as well.

This is a winner in my book!

Thanks everyone for the generous comments.

I have mixed feelings about the suggested crop. On one hand, I agree that it tightens up the composition, on the other hand, I feel that the warmer light balances out the blue-heavy bottom to some extent. I'll think on it some, thanks for the input.

CJ - Perhaps we should to do a print exchange at some point? :jump:

I agree that the colors at the top provide balance. I really like it just the way it is.

OK, I'm jealous! This is one of those photos that I've been wanting to "see" and capture for a long time...

Good work, Joel!

This is very nice. Love the texture, color, pattern, "blur"-you got it all in a simple and strong image.
