Here's some shots I took of a storm over Utah on Monday (yes, they're pretty small). The bottom-right shot is of a rainbow caused by the moon peeking out as the storm began to clear. The shot's not very good, but I thought it was interesting because it's a phenomenom I've never seen before. This was actually a full "moonbow" for a while - I think it was even a full double-moonbow, though it was so faint at night it was hard to make out. I wouldn't have even noticed it had there not been a faint arc in one of my attempted shots of lightning. Unfortunately, I didn't get any half-decent shots of the full moonbow. It was too faint at the wide angles and faded before I could try out higher ISOs / longer exposures.

I don't get it. That shot looks pretty damn incredible to me, the moonbow looks very noticeable. What a great catch! The others are nice, too.

The uniqueness of a moonbow combined with lightning, wow! That has got to be incredibly rare!

Grant, These are all great! That last 1 is really cool. I've never seen anything like it either. I was expecting to see some rafting shots from your Dinosaur NM trip.

Those are all pretty nice shots even without the rare weather things. I've not heard or seen anything like the double moonbow either.

I have to agree Grant. I've seen moonbows before, mostly with waterfalls. I've never seen a moonbow with storms or lightning. Looks like an incredible shot to me.

Thanks for the feedback. Since enough people like the shot, I may have to spend more time working on the moonbow image...maybe crop it to a panoramic. I was a bit disappointed in the moonbow image because it didn't come close to conveying what it was like to seeing it in person, with the storm still raging all around it. I was hoping for a shot of the full, double moonbow over Castleton Tower with a nice big lightning strike down the middle. Then I could call it quits and retire from photography .
why would you want to retire from photography? isn't it enjoyable enough for you, I know I take great enjoyment out of it and would do it as long as I had eyes and could see, even if I am not as good as some of you guys are yet

I never would have guessed it was a moonbow, very cool.

Hey Grant, nice work, those storms just keep following you around !!!
Paul, I think Grant enjoyed the Green River trip so much that he now probably wants to retire from photography to row the oar boats full time.
Let's see it BIGGER! Very, very cool!!!! (even if it was from Grant)

Very, very cool Grant. I also want to see the moonbow shot bigger. I don't think I have shot any rainbows that look as good as that, much less a moonbow. Nice.
These are all sweet! I love the dramatic skies in the first two especially. The moonbow is a definite keeper. If you rework it, can you repost it at thumbnail size?
