I'd be willing to arrange a fall NENP get together here in Rangeley.
I would suggest a weekend late in September or first weekend in October.
That would allow for some fall color as well as the moose being in the rut and that waterfalls will likely be flowing more than usual due to all the rain.
I will post a follow up message first of next week with details on lodging and more detailed info on places to shoot.
If anyone is interested please respond to this post or to me in person.
I was talking with Jim Deasy last week, and he mentioned that you were looking into that. One of the best nights camping I've ever had was the last week of September around Umbagog. Colors were near peak, mist rose every morning, and the land wild and full of wildlife. I've never been to Rangely, but it's right over the line...
If I can swing it in my schedule, I can't think of a better time or place than the last week of September in your area...
Here's a pic from that weekend... September 28th...the colors peak early up there...

Hi Nick,
Great idea, great location. Unfortunately, I'll be leading a group of 8 from W. Virginia here in VT the Oct 3-5. I'd really enjoy meeting some members 1st hand. I'm sure it will come together.

Nick,
Depending on the motel situation I would like to shoot for the weekend of Oct 3,4,5 . That ought to be the best bet for good color. . . Love those rutting Moose when they are set off by the nice colors on the trees!!
Oct 3,4,5 would be the only time I could make it. The color should be the best then. There are some trees here in Vermont that are changing already.

The last weekend in Sept. works better for me. Just checked the calendar and I have wedding to photograph on Oct. 4.
If people would rather, and not to complicate things, we could aim for either the third weekend in September (19-21) when the moose will surely be active but have possibly less color...or for the weekend of Oct. 10-12 when there is a chance the moose will be out of the rut, or at least in the tail end of it, and there will be more color......

If I'm around I'll be there. Heck, I'm only 45 minutes away!!! I'll be gone to Cape Breton around Sept. 18th-27 or so. October is better IMO anyway. If the moose are in the rut don't count on seeing any. I wouldn't even get your hopes up for seeing many in Oct. Colors should be good though and I know just about every river and waterfall in the area due to my habitual fly fishing addiction!
