Moorland Snipe.

Sigma 50-500

iso 200.

This is the first picture i have taken of a Snipe, really lucky to get a bird that did not mind having it's picture taken.Taken from the car window.

Love it Keith, really nice patterns in the feathers, the trade-mark bill, great perch and an interesting pose with head turn to boot. Then there's the BG! Only nit would depend on whether my tired eyes are tricking me - not sure if I can see a bit of a halo around the bird - especially under the bill and in the leg area?

Very nice shot keith, sharp great pose and background.

Ignore comments about halo`s they are all seeing things that are not there

Good spot, like the pose, perhaps a tad off the top? :toast:

Lovely shot Keith! Great pose, light and background. I can't see any halos either.

Beautiful shot keith. I think I can see what Magnus has noticed, but I think it is just oof bg. I had to look very hard for it and would never have noticed otherwise. It takes nothing away from a great post.

Very lucky image, snipe can be twitchy birds. Sometimes they will be fine and you've taken the opotunity well, nice image, good soft background, nice perch too.

An attractive image of a bird that doesn't often give good opportunities, would agree about losing a touch from the top, perhaps a touch of subtle PP on the eye just to brighten the highlight ever so slightly.only minor nit and it is difficult to say at web repro size, is that the point of focus seems to be a touch forward of the eye...

Very nice nontheless

Hi Kieth
Good picture which I,ve seen before. The "halos " are OOF objects in the background. Some which look like a very oof fence. They may be in the wrong place at the wrong time
I am interested to see that many can't see these, including your good self !
Cheers

Hi John.
As far as i remember there was nothing in the background such as a fence to give the effect you suggest.I have blown up the original and can see where Magnus is coming from but i don't think it is oof background and i had to look very hard to find it.
Hope it as not spoilt my picture to much.
Cheers Keith.
