I found this old barn about two miles from my cabin in Colorado. When I saw it during the day, I knew I had to shoot it but I had a dream that night that it would look cool in a night shot with the barn lit with moonlight. It must have been all the great night shots that Tim Ernst has been posting that caused my dream! The next night ( this past Monday) the moon was not full yet but the light it was providing was pretty good light. I was able to shoot this at F2.8 at 400 for 14 seconds. I did add a little light painting with a small pelican light that I keep in my camera bag.
A little history on this barn, the owner with a group of 15 volunteers from nearby Fairplay, Colorado, painted it just after 911 as a tribute to our Country. It seemed an appropriate time to post with the Olympics in full swing as an additional tribute to our atheletes, Go USA!
The stars in the sky show up much better before the JPEG compression crushed them. I hope to post a few more shots when I get them processed.

Nice find Tom I like what you have done with the long exposure and the light painting. Good job!

Outstanding work. It would probably sell very well in a poster shop..

I like it Tom. A fitting tribute on both accounts and a nice gesture on the part of the local residents. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you posted this, Tom. Good job capturing a challenging subject. The barn stands out nicely, and it's great that you captured the stars.
Very nice work Tom - especially the light painting you did on the barn. It's always been a challenge for me to illuminate things uniformly at night. You certainly nailed this one. Thanks for sharing!
