Red Grouse
Canon 40D, Canon 100-400, F8, ISO 400, Tripod.

I am happy with the full frame image but when lowered to 720 dpi. The bird just looks to small and seems to get lost. So I have cropped this by 30%.

Thanks for looking.

Superb environmental image Guy. I really like the composition and the complimentary background. I know what you mean about losing effect when compressing for the web, quite often dissapointing when seen small. This image certainly works well as shown but I can imagine it looking as good as if not better full frame. Why not post the full frame for comparison anyway.
Robert.

that's a lovely image Guy, great colours and background. I agree, this must look very nice at full res.

Hello Robert.

Thanks for your comment.

Heres the full frame version, but it just does,nt work so well at 720 dpi. The 1024 dpi image looks so much better.

Hi, I prefer the second version also. The bird stands out fine.
I like the color of the heather in the back and foreground.
Fine job Guy,

Fab colours Guy and the grouse is spot on

As I suspected Guy, both images look really good even at 720 dpi and I would be very happy to have either of these in my files. I'll bet they look gorgeous at full resolution.
Robert
ps, having looked again I think you could enhance these pictures even more if you could clone out the three grass heads which intrude along the grouses backline.
lovely image.

Love the full frame version, and IMO he doesn't get lost at all.

I just love all the colour throughout the image.

Love it :toast: :toast:

Still looks good at this size and it's easy to imagine how good a bigger version would look. :toast:
