Lake Tahoe water level

I spent the weekend at Lake Tahoe for a friends wedding and had a chance to shoot some sunset stuff at Bonsai Rock (BTW, a big thank you to Edward Nunez for posting the exact location).
When I got home yesterday I was comparing the shots to others I have seen and the water level seems to change. For example in Edward's pic taken earlier this year the water level is very high and in Elisabeth Carmel's shots taken in winter the water is much lower, mine are some place in between.
Am I correct to assume that this is part of the lake's year cycle (high in spring after rain and snow melt and low in winter after the summer heat and before the big snow storms) or is it a long tern issue caused by drought/wet year cycles?

Lake Tahoe's level can fluctuate dramatically from winter to spring. The snow pack is different every year. Sometimes people can't even use their docks because the water level is so low. There is also somewhat of a dam there for the Truckee River. They don't have many peaks around that are of significant elevation with lake level being around six thousand.
