Well it's been a while. Anyone interested in a trip to Umstead, Weymouth, Jordan or other locals spots for some early AM shooting? I am open this coming Sunday am or the following Sat/Sun (30th or 31st).

Scott, I've lived in Cary, NC for 10+ years now and not photographed at any of those locales--how sad is that? What time do you have in mind? I'll have a new D700 in my hands this Wed. that I will be itching to try out in the field.

Well Joe, I am in the same boat. I have shot Umstead almost 10 years ago but never the other spots. Bill Stice, Matthew Cromer and other local members have done those locations but it has always worked out that work travel or family events have kept me from going. Hopefully they will respond and we can put something together. There is a group of us that meet every once and a while for Breakfast at Crossroads to show work and shoot the breeze. This list is where we announce it. We are due for another since it's been a while. Keep your eye on the responses and let's go shooting.

I might be up for Umstead, Jordan, or another close destination depending on what time you have in mind. I am out of town all day Saturday and won't be home until late so I'd rather not drive much.

I'm at the beach this weekend but could do the next one. A sunset at Jordan Lake is easy and convenient if you are all up for that. If we're lucky we'll have some rockin' clouds and light.

The water is a bit low exposing some really cool rocks right now. . .

Oh, you said Sunrise didn't you Scott!

There are a couple places to shoot sunrise at Jordan Lake, I'd recommend the fishing pier off Farrington road. You can shoot the pier, or just the rocks and lake, or trees and lake, or any number of other possibilities in that area. This pier is right next to the causway and about 1 mile north of the intersection of Farrington Rd. and US 64.

I can do sunrise during the week, or on most weekends (but not this weekend).

Tomorrow AM looks clear (so probably a boring sunrise) but right now Thursday AM is forecast for partly cloudy. Sunrise is at 6:40 Thursday AM, which means we should be there no later than 6:10 AM because often the light before sunrise is the best.

How many of you would be interested in meeting this Thursday for sunrise?

Or, if this sounds really early, we could schedule a sunset for a weekend day.

The place I recommend for sunset, with all the cool rocks and some small cliffs, is also just off US 64.

I'd also be up for a trip to Weymouth sometime soon if you guys are interested in that. . .

I could do this Thursday.

Also, I am up for next weekend. I can do either Sat or Sunday. Sunset might be easier unless someone has a sunrise preference. Maybe Mathew can show us his super secret sunset locations :)

Sorry guys I can't meet tomorrow at the pier.

We are having a party tomorrow and I have some errands to do before work.

I can probably do sometime next week. . .

Guys, just saw the message. Been busy working! I will be up at Julian Price with my grandson camping this weekend. Next weekend (30, or 31, or Labor Day) are all okay with me. Any location is fine.

Bill S, Jack, Matthew, Eric and Joe,
How about this Sat for a morning shoot. Anyone have any good preferences or suggestions? How is Weymouth Woods this time of year?

Scott,

I'm in for trying this Sat. morning, if the group reaches a consensus on location.

Scott, I can make Saturday morning this week.

Saturday morning it is. Joe, Bill, any location suggestions? Maybe a sunrise at the lake then breakfast? Or should we head to Upstead, Duke Gardens, NCSU Aboretum, Weymouth, ???

weather.com's showing partly cloudy Fri to isolated T-storms Sat. Which could make for interesting sky @ sunrise. I'm in for any location, though. Where do you all want to sync up @ pre-dawn?

Matthew, How about showing us one of your favorite sunrise locations at Jordan Lake?
Posted by Bill Stice on August 27, 2008 at 4:35 PM
Jordan Lake sunrise and breakfast after sounds great to me.

Saturday AM sounds good, I can't stay too long though as I have plans with my son.

Of course, the rain has kind of made a mess of things, but we'll manage.

Let's plan to meet at the fishing pier on Farrington Rd, 1 mile north of US-64 Saturday at 6:20 AM. If the forecast looks really bad on Friday we can reschedule.

I'm in for Sat morn

Sounds good. See you all at the fishing pier, 6:20am
