Spent Friday night up on Hermit Pass, and was awakened at 4:30am to sleet, snow and fog so thick I could barely see the hood of my truck. Thought that might be a good time to get off the pass, in case it kept snowing and made the drive down a little more, well, interesting. Stopped about 500' below the pass and waited it out, and lo and behold, at sunrise there was some clearing. There were plenty of clouds above and below, but I found myself between the two layers. I even got some alpenglow shots, but nothing compositionally worth sharing. Instead, here's a few fog shots, in no particular order, plus one from down in the Wet Mtn. Valley once I got back to civilization.
A fog sandwich! Can't beat that. Excellent series, Todd. I love these kind of foggy images. I like them all, but especially that first one with the rows of fog sitting in all the low spots. Very nice.

I was so close to doing the same thing... Until I found out I'd have to work
Excellent shots Todd.

Great collection of images, Todd! I recognize that barn.

I like all of them, but the barn is my favorite. Thank you for sharing.
Great collection ~ love those misty, rugged mountains. Looks like the Tongass. The mountain in the fog is so cool - makes me wonder how much more rock is hidden?!

Todd, you have a real gift of knowing where to be and where to point the camera. You ought to consider going pro! Very beautiful images!!! I'd be thrilled to have taken any one of these!

Love those fog/tree shots as well as the Hermit Pass shot. Fog/clouds are just too cool
There is just something about fog shots done as well as these. Nothing says "mood" like what you have captured.
Good job!

Nice shots! I like the first three best and the barn shot is nice too. I need to get up to Hermit Pass someday. For some reason, I've never made it up there.

A classic Caudle cloud collection. Very nice - love the 3rd to last one with the warm hues, but they all have such great mood.

Wow, wish we had weather! Great stuff Todd. I like the vertical a lot.
Holy **** those are sweet! I think the first is my fav, but they are all incredibly beautiful! You struck some serious gold on that outing.
I really need to get down to Hermit Pass. Todd - What is the camping like down there? Dispersed roadside camping I assume, but easy to come by a decent spot that isn't 3 feet from the main road?

Michael, there are MANY excellent car-camping spots along the Hermit Pass road. Some are kind of close to the road, others are not, but there's not enough traffic or dust for it to really be an issue either way. Of course, if you go all the way to the pass, you could just camp there, as it's a huge open area roughly 100x300 yards (maybe a bit less...).
Todd, thanks for the info. Now I just need to get my rear end down there. It's nice to get a little solitude and get away from the road a little bit. Plus no one likes dust from the 4wd road in their beer.
