All, yes, I'm still alive for those that even remember me! Been quite busy with too many projects, both photographic and otherwise. But I've been lurking, and enjoying some images and stories. Thought I'd throw out a personal fave for consideration since I had to scan it for one of the aforementioned projects.....
A shot from P.H. Hoeft state park on the Lake Huron shore in Lower Michigan. I actually took 2 shots from this location - one with no polarizer, at f11 and about 1/15 - 1/8 of a second that had defined waves in a curve through the rocks (tilting the plane of focus with large formate is a beautiful thing at times). This image was taken with a polarizer, at f64, to get the very smooth water (exposure I'm guessing was about 4 - 8 seconds. I like this version best, so here you go.....
Hey Jack - funny you mention the horizon. Right after I posted this, I looked at it and thought the same thing. I pulled it up again in PS, and overlaid a grid and the horizon looked straight. I even just measured the image on my screen (what a geek) and THAT looks straight too. Are there other clever things I can try to check that? I'm thinking it may be a weird optical illusion but I can't figure out why that would be the case.....???

Very soothing scene indeed with all of the soft pastel colors. The horizon does appear to tilt a bit. A quick scroll to line it up with the bottom of my screen shows just a touch of left to right tilt. The grid in PS should show the same?
OK, how is this?? Better? (Geez, you guys are hard core!!! ) CJ

Picky, picky! LOL At first glance the horizon looks straight to me, but when you look at it a little longer, than you can tell it's off....just a wee tiny bit! Either way, CJ...excellent shot! I love the peaceful feeling this image evokes.
Excellent composition - simple and quite graphical. The horizon didn't bother me to be honest (odd because such things typically do), but I can see a slight improvement w/ the repost. My first thought was that your black and white points were off. While I realize such things are to taste, I would personally prefer a true black. Very nice image!
