Monarch Butterfly
I was having a late supper last week, watching the sun set on my prairie and thinking I should get the camera out. About then I noticed a Monarch Butterfly land on one of the Coneflowers. I grabbed the camera. Much to my surprise the Monarch was still posing so I took a couple of quick shots. This was one of them.

Very nice! I really like how the wings and the coneflower are backlit - the lighting is very expressive. Great capture!

I like this as well not only for the backlighting, but also the way the orannge and black color of the Monarch match the colors of coneflower.

A very striking closeup, with exceptionally compelling lighting. Very well done.

Nice work Phil. Did you crop this significantly?
