This is a full frame single lightning burst.

Here's another single burst, full frame.

Good grief! I think my hair is standing on end! Awesome Don,

I saw the flashes and thought about going out to see about shooting... but didn't. Was this from Woodland Park or Rampart Range?

The lightning itself is awesome, and the enviroment you captured it in is superb!
This has more depth than any lightning photo that I've seen to date. Good for you for pursuing this one!

Which city are we looking at?

Great stuff, Don. Having the city lights in the background adds a great sense of depth. This almost seems like a scene from a sci-fi movie.

The first shot is awesome!. The location you shot from looking down on the city counldn't be any better, as John said great depth in this lightning shot!.

Very nice Don. Both are very energetic.

This stuff was right over my house or at least seemed like it. Our house was hit this spring and we've had two lightning strikes in the last year so close that the flash and thunder came together. There was no way I was going to go outside.

Really cool shots Don. :toast:

Wow! These are fantastic! I was wondering what all the buzz was about and I got a real charge out both shots! Well done. :toast:

These are awe-inspiring, Don! I love the overlooking-the-city aspect. Just amazing!

The city was Colorado Springs looking from about 9 miles up on the Rampart Range Road from Garden of the Gods. I started on RRR above my house in Woodland Park, but the storm kept moving as is its nature, so I moved with it.

Very cool, Don--looks like the bolt is coming right at me! I prefer #1 for its clearer city lights.

WOW!!! That first one is perfect!

Yikes!!! That's way cool!

I thought I recognized the RRR view. These are spectacular! I agree with Stan that #1 is slightly better because of the clearer city lights and the bolt is completely in the frame. The bolt in #2 is almost just as good, it appears larger and more dramatic, but the little bit that extends past the left edge of the frame is slightly distracting. Wonderful captures!

Yeah baby!  AWESOME shots Don, simply awesome.
