Canon EOS 1D MKII, 600mm, f4 IS, 1.4x conv, RAW, RSE, CS2, bean bag on car window, 35% crop.

Hi All,

I went to my Corn Bunting site this morning with the hope in the back of my mind I may see a Wheatear. No Corn Buntings, to early for Stonechats, just a few Linnets and Skylarks to keep me company and a family of Kestrels. Then just as I was going to head for home I caught this moving aroiund in the bino's, the next 2 hours were spent trying to get images of it  . It was very jumpy.

All comments welcome

Regards

Rob

Nice warm image Rob. I sometimes like some detail in the backdrop too. This sets the scene well. Pretty good for about 1000mm too.

Nice shot Rob, really like the setting on this one, I watched four first winter birds make landfall this morning, all were immaculate, one of my favourite birds.

600mm + 1.4 = 850mm 1.4 or so sensor wise, then cropped 35%. I hate to say it Rob but for this to work well you need to be so much closer to your subject. That is only IMHO. I hope you dont mind but half the art in getting this is in getting closer to your subject without it being disturbed. Easier said than done I might add.
Major.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments. You are right Major, but it was terribly difficult to approach, even in a vehicle, and on foot was a non starter, so decided to give it some space and settle for a record shot, pleased I did as when I went back later in the day there was no sign of it.
