After being skunked on far too many "O-Dark Thirty" runs up to Reflection Lake, yesterday morning Sean Watson and I did the brutal 2am run up there and WOW did we strike GOLD!!

Rick,

Very nice! I was wondering how it turned out. I was up at Paradise on Saturday morning, where I met up with Kevin, Dave, Randy, Jesse, .. who did I miss? Great weekend to be on the mountain.

I love the colors off the clouds.

"Lucky" you Rick...after all that effort and multiple alpine starts, the adage "make your own luck" comes true again. I love this shot and congratulate you on time well spent.

OUTSTANDING Rick, love the colors of course and you could not have done a better job composing this beauty! "Thanks for getting up early, and sharing!"

You can never go wrong at Reflection Lake but this is one of the nicer ones I've seen particularly with those lenticulars sitting off to the right. Well worth the early morning wake up call. How were the flowers up at Paradise? Mazama Ridge??

The flowers above Paradise Lodge and along Fourth Crossing/Sklyline Trail are AWESOME right now. We did not do Mazama Ridge so I can't speak on that. The above image was taken on the Skyline Trail just west of where it intersects with the Fourth Crossing trail. It was a grab shot but it does show how awesome the bloom is right now.

Rick - really? I'd hardly call it awesome. There are patches that are really good, but it looks to me like its either still 2-3 weeks from peak or there were VAST swaths of the area that were stunted or killed by the heavy snowpack and / or the cold snap over this last week. Best stuff I saw was on the Skyline Trail near Glacier Vista and a bit at the beginning of the Ice Caves trail. I've seen MUCH better shows in other years if this is as good as its gonna get. I'm inclined to think that its still got a way to go because everywhere else the flowers are pretty insane this year and it would be super odd for Paradise to be the odd spot out.

Well Bryan I think in comparison to recent years things look a LOT lusher and more in bloom. At least that was my observation. The bottom line is we had fun - took lots of nice images and came home exhausted!

Great shot Rick. Nicely balanced and exposed. Early to bed and early to rise for that beautiful sunrise!! :)

Oh, man! Gorgeous shot, Rick. It's a long haul for you guys to get up there; I'm impressed with both your perseverence and your good fortune on this trip. Way to go.

Love this one Rick!

Great shot here. I love the dynamic range throughout. It's extremely natural looking, which in my opinion really does justice to the beauty of the summer bloom and that great cloud formation and color. Excellent exposure and Processing too.
Given how even the tones are (for the most part) a slight bit of vignetting might help keep it focused on that centered mountain.

Rick,
I just read Chris' post and I tend to agree with him. It's natural looking and the tones are perfect. Very nice work!
