Hello! During the first weekend of August I travelled up to the Snowy Range west of Laramie, WY for a couple of days of shooting. I was lucky enough to catch up several NPNers out there too. Thanks to Scott Bacon, Brent Doerzman, Jimmy Gekas and Ben Glatt who showed me some great locations (some of the places they learned about from Brett Deacon - so thank you too Brett!). Even though it was my first time up there, and I got some interesting images, I know I will be going back to explore more of the Snowys some day soon.
This photo is one from the same morning as Ben's shot in his post a few days ago, but taken from a different, nearby lake in the Sugarloaf Rec. Area.

Here is one taken from between the lake in my first post and the tarn Ben shot at sunrise. This is from a bit later in the morning. There were some nice clouds that rolled in.

Here is one above the lakes closer to the range with some columbine. There were great flowers everywhere, but it was a challenge to capture them due to the famous Wyoming wind blowing them around.

Finally, the well-known composition of the Lake Marie outlet. Such a strenous hike of about 100 feet from the parking lot! Can't wait to come back to the Snowys. There is so much to see in a relatively compact area that it could take weeks to explore it all.
Great stuff Josh!!! I particularly like the first shot. A bit of white balance adjustment towards the yellow and it will be perfect. Looks like a spectacular place and you captured it well.

Great pics Josh! Sorry I missed you that weekend. Your first image is awesome! I was at that same spot a few weeks ago but it was so windy I ended up moving to where your second image was captured. Our tripod holes must have been inches from each other. Glad you enjoyed the Snowies and gimme a holler if you're up this way again.

#1 and 3 are my favs. I agree about the wb on #1, the white rocks seem a little confusing visually, are they blocks of snow or rocks? #3 seems a little crunchy from sharpening but that could be jpeg artifacts. Nice comp!
My Dad lives between Cheyenne and Laramie and has always talked about taking me up to the snowies. All of this recent shots make me realize what I've missed out on so far.

The first and the last images are great. While the WB in #1 seems to be off, its a beautiful composition.
Beautiful shots, Joshua! Makes me want to go up there right now! I always had this notion that the peaks in the Snowy Range were not very interesting, but your photos dispel that.
2&4 look great, i think 4 is my fav. 1 could be great, with a little WB adjustment, and there also appears to be noise issues (seen in the sky) in #1 and slighly in 3 also.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll definitely let you know when I'm back Brett. Hopefully next summer will be as nice with the flowers. Kailin, the area is well worth your time. You and your dad will have a lot of fun.

I really like the clouds and light in the second image. All are very nice!
That 1st one is amazing! Great sharp contrast, both in line and color, between summer/winter, and warm/cold. That little touch of alpenglow on that left peak is the cherry on top!
I'm with Kalin. I've heard the snowies are beautiful, and all the recent posts from the area certainly confirm that! Nice work Joshua! I love that ying and yang of the lit/shadowed peaks in #2!

Joshua, Very nice shots. After seeing these I'm going to have to put this area on my list of places to see. I love all of them but #3 is just fantastic.

Thanks again for the comments. I just wanted to add a color balance tweak to the first image which Brett Deacon has done and I really like. The flowers/grass is more yellow and the sky maintains (and intensifies) that nice purple I liked about the first image. Thanks again Brett.
