Just wondering if any you CANP members ever meet up occasionally for photography? If so is anyone planning on photographing this Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning? Possibly in Southern or Central California or maybe Northern Cal. I'm sure we can find a time sooner or later to maybe do something like that and get something going.
Here is a shot that I took Sunday on the Point Buchon Trail in Montana de Oro State Park. Too bad you can't be here at sunset because they keep the trail closed at the most opperntuned times due to Mount Diablo nuclear power plant nearby.

I am up in Santa Barbara. If you ever want to get together for a photo adventure in the big general area, let me know. This weekend is not too promising for me, but some other time.
One of these days, I want to get up to the Morro Bay area and check out the oak preserve.
Steve, CANP members do share outings together off and on. As the state is sooooo spread out and covers almost the entire western coastline, it is a bit tough for too many meetings per se. For me, I usually venture out to JTNP during cooler weather and mostly always during the weekdays as I'm retired now. CANP members typically try to make two somewhat scheduled get togethers a year. One is during the summer up at Sonora Pass, and the upcoming very popular outing to the eastern sierras during fall colors. The second outing ranges from usually first to second week in October depending upon the transformation of the trees. Stay tuned, Preston no doubt will be posting information regarding some proposed dates for the fall colors outing. Hopefully you can join in on this always excellent photographic opportunity to the eastern sierras.
Hello Steve: It has been my experience that if one of the crew wants to put an activity on the calendar, it is best to announce it early so that folks can plan. I put the dates for our Sonora Pass trip on the docket about a month in advance. It worked out pretty well.
If you want to put a meeting together, might I suggest that you post the relevant info here and ask those who are interested to e-mail you. The plan could then be coordinated via e-mail.
As for the East Side Fall Shoot-Fest--It's in the works, i.e. I'm looking at the calendar to see about the time frame. Stay tuned!

Well I'm in tune now. Thanks Paul and Preston. Wish I would have made it up to the Sonora Pass w/ you all. That had to have been a lot of fun. Hope to make it up to the Sierra for fall color when the group goes.
Paul, during the week in winter you probably got the park all to yourself. Wouldn't mind taking a day off doing that.
Harley, that stretch of coastline from Gaviota to SB makes for some great sunrise shots in Nov and Dec. Do you like to hike at all? Have you been to Point Sal State Park for an afternoon? The Oaks preserve is really nice they have all kinds of poisen oak that turn red and pink and the spanish moss is everywhere there. That place is only about an hour from you. It might make some great foggy morning photography. I'll keep you inmind Harley, are you spur of the moment like me or are most of you outings planned?
Sounds good, Steve. After our usual trek to fall colors, I settle in closer to home, although admittedly even JTNP is a stretch out there. I have found as of late it is almost better for me to stay locally out there in a $50 room then to travel at the price of fuel these days out and back in one day. Which is what I have done for years off and on.

I've gone shooting with a few individuals but haven't done the group meetups yet.
I didn't realize that there are any rule enforcements at Montana de Oro since I've never seen a park ranger there in my previous visits.

Richard, if you go down the road to the last parking lot there is a trail called the Point Buchon trail. You have to check in and check out. It's just past the barbed wire gate. It's current hours of opp are 8 or 9 to 5 pm. I hear in winter it closes at 4pm making sunset photography impossible. Unless you break the law and swim w/ a waterproof bag over to Point Buchon.
