I was going to post a shot of a kingfisher taken on saturday but when I went to the file I noticed this shot taken a couple of years ago and which has never seen the light of day. I nearly threw it out at the time but as I had practically nil kingfishers on file I decided to hang on to it. Now that I have a few more standard images I have found this to be a bit more appealing. Nowhere near as good as a decent 'action' shot but as a bird on a stick it's a bit different.

If this were mine i would crop off the bottom, and the top to give it a pano look. Then convert to B&W

very nice idea i think i agree with Alan about making a B+W pano, but i wouldn't take too much off the bottom

Interesting image. I agree its worth trying a different crop, simple but effective.

Hi Robert,
Different and enjoyable image!

Agree trying this as B&W would have a lot of impact - the slight hint of colour still there doesn't add much for me. Could also darken the bright shoulder?
I like this as posted. It has a sort of dreamy, even eerie, atmosphere, especially with those twisted twigs in the background. Personally, I prefer images that have a bit of atmosphere to them, rather straight natural history shots, and this does it for me. Nice!

Nice job on capturing something a little different from the norm.
