Waspspider with prey
Hello friends,
I have visited "my" Waspspider field again yesterday. It was again amazing for me to observe these little beautys hunting. I dicided to get a bit closer.
Canon 20D, Tamron 180 + Ext. Tube 25, Tripod, 1/50 f13 ISO 200.
I hope you enjoy it.
C and C always welcome.
Thanks for looking.

Wow. This is a amazing picture.
This is also the kind of pictures I like most (sometimes used to scare of my daughter because she hates spiders)
I never tried an extension tube with a macrolens. It's worth trying it, as I can see.

Hi Bertl,

I'm not sure here, difficult to produce images that stand out at these magnifications, so many things are working against you... as David says it looks ideal if conitions were right for a focus stack, I also feel that it needs a touch ore light filling the shadow areas for better detail....

Great effort that can not have been that easy..

Thanks guys for your comments,
David, Phil, I have tried image stacking. Its impossible, at this mag ratio you see that the net is moving back and forward all the time.

Any chance of erecting a tent over the web? Or some sort of wind break. Obviously without worrying the spider. For a subject like this it would be worth the effort IMHO. Breeze free days are vanishingly rare, unfortunately for us focus stackers. :frown: Animal stillness even rarer. :frown: :frown: Well worth it when these things come together.
