Matthew, Joe, Jack and Bill. I enjoyed our shoot and breakfast this morning (even with the poor light). I am looking forward to our next outing. Here is a link to some quick HDR process shots from our discussion this morning. I ran them through the HDR workflow with minimal adjustments. No grads were used. In certain light or types of horizons unsuitable to grads this process could be a lifesaver. Not a be all end all technology but definately another tool for the bag.

Very cool, Scott. When I woke up this morning at 0430, I knew next to nothing about HDR. :) Our discussions today were very eye opening for me.

I hope we get together as a local group more often.

Great to see everyone. Very nice turnout so early in the morning!

Here are three I liked:

SENP Raleigh / RTP Photo Shoot

Scott, your swamp image is very sweet, I like your composition a lot!

I have to say, I had so much fun, and learned so much (Thanks to you all!), that I went back again this morning...armed with my new knowledge about HDR and a trial verison of Photomatix!

Here's my first attempt at HDR workflow using Photomatix. ScottH, I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with the group. :toast:

Great Joe! I am planning to do a lot of test shooting over the next few months to really nail down when to use HDR versus grads. I see a lot of benefits. Here is a link to a great article on naturescapes.net http://www.naturescapes.net/072006/rh0706.pdf

I also posted a stitched HDR on my link above. I will be posting future HDR testing as I create images.

Pretty cool stuff! Sorry I couldn't make it but my wife and I are both starting college again and it has taken just every minute of free time away.

Full time student + full time job = very little time for photography :frown:

I would really like to get an outing together this fall and do some local fall colors. As close as we all are I think we should start trying to get out more.

Eric,

There is some discussion underway about a trip out to Umstead 1st or 2nd week of Nov for some fall color. Stay tuned here.

Also,

I'd love to get a contingent together and visit Weymouth soon. Bill and I had a fantastic trip down in February and it is an opportunity not to be missed!

Sounds good to me. Let's define "soon" and make it happen.

I move that we define "soon" as one of the next 2 weekends?
Posted by Joe Baltimore on September 2, 2008 at 9:26 AM
I'll second that motion. I am hooked! I went out yet again on Mon morning and got this:

I can do tomorrow as well. What time and where? I'm anxious to get out again, so anything nearby works for me.

Joe, sent you an email
