Hey Guys,

Originally I had been planning on getting back to the coast and after our Spring trip to Oregon this year I was ready to move to Portland - just gorgeous in every way (coast, gorge, mtns, green, green, green, etc...). But my wife's sister is very sick and her whole family lives in CA. And she really wanted to spend more time closer to them. So it turns out that we will be moving to Monterey CA. And with Big Sur, the NorCal coast, the redwoods and the Sierras there will still be a lot to shoot over there.

Anyway I wanted to thank all of you who have spent time with me in encouraging and inspiring me in my photography. And also for just being good people. I will definately miss this group and CO.

Lastly here are a few pics I took during a recent business trip to Monterey:

Derek: I wish you and your family the best of luck in California. I hope you'll still pop in to the RMNP forum from time to time and share some of those images from the Sierras and Pacific Coast.

Derek,
Sorry your leaving, but it sounds like you'll have a lot of photographic opportunities where you're headed. I'll have to keep watch on the California forum. Best of luck on your move.

It looks like the California Forum is going to get even better soon. Good luck Derek. Good collection of photos here by the way, I like the flying gull photo the best. The fog really makes it. Cheers. :toast:

I'm sorry to hear about your sister-in-law; I'm sure she'll appreciate having all of the family back in CA. No shortage of fantastic scenery to take in, so I'm sure it'll be a photographic success. Yosemite, the Sierra, King's Canyon, Death Valley, the coast... just as diverse as Oregon.

Good luck with the move, and enjoy exploring your new surroundings!

Derek,

I hardly knew ya, but your photography speaks for you and I enjoyed seeing your work here. Best wishes and good shooting...

Derek, who am I going to push out of the snow on stormy winter mornings in RMNP? I wish we would have had more time to get to know each other. I trust that the transition time goes smoothly! I look forward to seeing what you produce out west! All the best!
