What with all this bloody awful weather we have been having,I decided to have a play in the garden. We currently have a Mum,Dad and baby GSW,so I found a stout branch and drilled a couple of large holes in it which I filled with a seed/lard/peanut mix,and put the Dog house up about 10 feet away.Within about 2 days they were there feeding away, and although I was still struggling with the light,I did get a few decent shots one SUNNY!!!!!! evening...........

Hi Stewart,
It's a real good effort. I know what you mean about the weather!! You could always try a blip of fill flash, just to bring out a bit more feather detail in the blacks. I would have thought they will be trying to fatten up a bit for the winter so may well stick around for a bit.
very nice shot, keep at it the weathers bound to get a bit better. I wish I had GSWs in my garden

Great shot I like it as is I'm sure they will stick around with your menu. Sorry your having such a rough summer. 90's here and harsh light is a problem.

That's a nice sharp shot and it doesn't look dark to me at all.
very nicely done.

Exposure looks pretty much okay to me Stewart, but a flash extender with about -1.5EV on the flash output would have perhaps put a tad more detail in the blacks.
The only major prob for me is that the log feeder is too OoF because you've set yourself up at an angle that's made you run out of DoF.
