Hey all, been a few weeks I think since I posted anything, nice to see the wonderful work still showing up.
The weather has been great the grass is still green and the fields are full of hay bales, an unusual combination here through the month of August. So I have really been wanting to take advantage of it.
This was taken the morning of Aug. 18. I have been spending some time the last few weeks looking for decent fields to try some sunrise and sunset shots of. And after hours of driving wouldn't you know it, this place is like 15 minutes from my home. I drove by it the evening before and it had just gotten baled up. So the next morning I was there (or here) as the case may be.
This field slopes down to another open lower field and a pond just past the row of trees, which helped to provide some ground fog that I thought was kind of an added bonus.
Don had posted about the eruption of Kasatochi early in August, maybe that has something to do with the wonderful amount of color in the sunrise that morning.

Stunning colors! Hay bales never looked so good. I particularly like the effect created by the haze. Not an easy feature to photograph well. I've been playing around with HDR myself, but I find simple blends work well enough for most shots.
You done good Brad! I don't know why but I'm especially drawn to the symmetrical spacing of the trees on the far side of the field. Give us more.

Beautiful Brad, glad to see you posting again.

Ahhh, that's what I've been missing! Like Bruce, the unnatural spacing of the trees certainly draws one's attention and makes this an unusual scene. Love the combination of bales, trees, fog and sky you've captured here Brad.
Funny, but I've been out early a lot since the eruption but haven't noticed the sunrises being anything special here in KC. I'll have to look closer these next few days.

Nice to see your posts again, Brad. This is a great scene, with some really nice morning light. I might be tempted to crop a good bit of sky to give this more of a pano format.
