Crazy sunrise and Sangres
Was on my way to the Sangres for some hiking/climbing yesterday, when i realized from the clouds and horizon glow that the sunrise would be incredible, so i took a slight detour to get somewhere for some photos, closest place being Lake Pueblo. I actually missed the most intense coloer, but still managed to fire off a bunch of shots. Later i realized i had forgotten to change my camera back to RAW mode, so had to suffer with the jpegs. Oh well, better than nuttin.

It was nice being up in the Sangres, a bit cold and windy at 13K feet, but no storms at least. Wasn't there for photos, but took a few anyways.

Those sunrise shots are both excellent.
I'd say you didn't miss the intense color that much looking at the second one.
The color and those nicely uniform ripples in the water make that one my favorite.

When you can expose images this well, then JPEG capture sure isn't a liability, IMO.

Stan, both sunrise shots are beautiful. Nice compositions too.

Where in the Sangres was the above shot taken?

Excellent color, and I like the ripples in hte water of the second one.

Nice stuff, Stan. #2 is my favorite. Those ripples really make the shot. I also like the way you've included the near shoreline and the silhouette of the shrubs.

Thanks! Rand: that was taken at about 12,800 ft or so on my way to climbing 13,400 ft Spread eagle peak, accessed from Lake of the Clouds, west of Westcliffe. Quite a climb, more challenging than most 14ers sine it involves a good scramble and no real trail or established route. There were supposedly two other people climbing but i didnt see them.

Very nice color in the first two Stan.

Spread Eagle certainly has a distinct profile.

I love the calm colors and feel of #1. The ripples in #2 are a nice touch.

The sunrise images are killers; the third is no slouch either. Kudos!

The colors in the 1st one are very unique, I like it a lot.
