Brushed Edges

I thought there was a way within PS3 to create brushed edges for a print but I've yet to find it. Maybe there is a plug in to use for this process?
I'm designing some note cards for my art shows and I think the softness of a brushed edge would look better that a harsh edge.

Ideas?

Thanks
Rob

How do you mean "brushed edges"?
do you want a feathered edge?
overlapping strokes?
something rough and scratchy looking?
for overlapping strokes try this;
open a blank the size of your image plus some room to spare.
choose one of the "natural brushes" set the opacity to 50% or less
and the merge mode to multiply.
run some strokes back and forth to get a feel for the look
to make them straight hold down the shift key.
the size of the brush will depend on the size of the image.
now make this a floating layer(new layer from background)
and drag a copy of you original to this image and place it below.
now erase the middle of the frame image.

I'm sure there are other ways, but this is what I do:
With the image sized as you want, so you get the right edge effect size:

1. Draw a rectangular marquee (the part outside the box will be mostly deleted with some brushstrokes extending into it)
2. edit in quick mask mode by pressing Q (outside area gets reddish mask)
3. filter, brushstrokes, choose options - try sprayed strokes for starters
4. exit quick mask mode (hit Q again)
5. select the inverse.
6. delete
7. deselect

experiment with the settings chosen in the filter dialog box, have fun!

The result of these steps should look like this:

here are a couple of demos that may help
this is the layer set up:

and this is what you can do by changing the layer merge mode;
