Ring Seal
Lucky encounter with this very shy mammal. A Polar Bears favourite meal.

Taken on board a Zodiac hence iso800 1/8000 f5 1D3 500mm

Lovely shot, nice eye contact , possibly a bit tight on the right. I always feel sorry for seals they all look so sad. I guess being a polar bear's favourite meal doesn't help.

I don't know anything about these guys but this must have taken some getting despite the response on here. Bit of space on the right maybe but no big deal.
Cheers

A sad look, indeed, but a nice picture though. I also think it needs a bit more space on the right.

An unusual subject for this forum Paul, not something I'm ever likely to see so thanks for putting it up. Are they named 'ring' seals because of those markings or is that me being too obvious?

Paul

A great shot and rare to boot. Under difficult circumstances no doubt.

Well done.

This is a great shot Paul because it is not an easy seal to photograph love those rings on its back, the only one I photographed was a dead one which had been caught by a Polar Bear
