Grasshopper (Omocestus viridulus) (I think )
Struggling with the Sigma macro but getting there. Not been a good year for these here this year-- with all the wet.

hand held.
Neat image.

a study in green indeed, very nice. Nice soft lighting too.The few grasshoppers I've seen this year (mainly Lesser Marsh) have been drab brown in colour which makes them far less photogenic in my opinion.

Great deatil and lighting John - the soft green really works. Sparse round here too apart from one spot where I found a huge number in a very small area!

What exceptional colour and detail. I use the expertise that you pros demonstrate as a pointer as it were to try but I'm just not hacking the macro techniques.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi John,
An other awful good shot. Even that little mosquito is almost sharp.
I saw a lot of these guys these afternoon. I had a afternoon off since weeks to take some pictures.
Mostly fungus. After processing I will add a topic with a picture of one of them.

The simplicity of the colours and there delicate tonal ranges make this an outstanding image John. Exquisite detail in the main subject emphasised by softness of the surroundings. The way the brown tones all lead in similar direction provide impact.
