from Hermaness, again a flight shot i can't really claim much credit for, i just rattled of a couple as this bird came in vaguely hopeful and was astounded when i actually got one in focus

Very nice too.
Maybe a bit off the bottom and a bit in the top but no big deal.
Good one anyway.

Good picture. I'm not sure about the cropping, but as John said no big deal.

Cropping suggestion is a good one, very nice image.

Now for me Jack, that is superb. I love the composition, the left foreground rocks lead the eye into the bird and the rocks on the right hold the image in. The pose of the bird is great and the colours are wonderful. If you do have a bit more on the top then that would be a plus but even without it, that is a puffin image I'd love to have taken.
Great stuff.

Very nice! I really like this! Different from the norm, great pose, great sharpness. Fantastic work!

Composition, timing and sharpness on the head look good here but the left wing doesn't look right to me somehow.

Great shot Jack! Interesting to see the positions birds put their wings into when flying and landing, something you only see properly with slow motion video or high speed photography like this.
