I promise, I'm going to buy a book about fungus.
This one I took yesterday. I went back today and the fungus completely changed in 24 hours. I have never realized that these things are growing so quickly.
1/250
F3.2
Exp. comp. +2/3
ISO 100
50 mm
Used ringflash handhold from the right

C&C welcome
Tomorrow I will post the next stage of this one.
Find the differences.
(This one is not completely sharp, the next one is better)
This is an easy one Tom unlike your last one.
It's a Parasol Mushroom (Lepiota procera)
It's great to eat too with a bit of olive oil, butter and lots of garlic and parsley.
I like the low viewpoint which I find works especially well with this species, emphazing it's huge size.

Hi Justin,
Thanks for the info. The size of this one is approx. 25 cm, so it was not that difficult to get under it.
I was surprised by this size. I found more of this size around.

Yeah they're an impressive mushroom. When the cap opens up it'll flatten out and that too can reach a huge 25cm across.
You certainly don't need many of these on toast to keep you going for a few hours

Nice one Tom
The globe is a little near the top of the frame for me.
As Justin says - these are great to eat. Be careful though there's a very similar one which can give you the gripes !
If you ever eat these, then mushrooms are rubbish !!
Gently fried with a bit of bacon- uuuuummm
As Homer Simpson would say- yuuummy mushrooms - uuuumm
Forgot to say -Eaten raw they have a great nutty taste.

I don't ever recall seeing a mushroom this large. A nicely taken shot, I agree it's perhaps a bit tight at the top.

I suppose something this size and shape just had to come from the Netherlands
