I've been slowly getting Peggy and Ellen outfitted for backpacking. The both have good packs, sleeping pads and sleeping bags. Peggy has hiking boots, hiking poles and Ozzy had a doggy pack. We have a very light 3 person tent. So, along with all my stuff, we're pretty set.
This weekend the weather looked great so we went up to Elk Cove via the Vista Ridge trail. Ellen moped a little on the way up but all in all she did great. Ozzy did well carrying his food as well as liquor for Peggy and me!
The flowers were pretty darn nice considering the time of year and once we got set up in Elk Cove my girls relaxed with their books and Ozzy and I went off exploring and taking photos.
I've been getting into flash photography lately so I took a light stand, flash, an umbrella and my flash remotes with me. I was planning on taking the type of photo you see here.
Anyway, it was a great trip, my girls were warm and comfortable in their sleeping bags and Ellen walked all the way from the Wy'East Basin to the parking lot with out stopping (3.5 miles),

What a keeper for the family album! Wonderful way to build a love of outdoors. That was an effort to hike w/the extra lighting...whew!! Good job! I love the setting and happy times you've captured. Composition is cool. Maybe a tad too late in the day to get a brighter b/g. Tough balance. Good job! Ken S

Mark,
Sounds like a fun well planned out trip. Also it's nice to have a pack mule to haul your booze. Nice family shot.

The picture is also worthy of the photo album. You're improving your flash skills...
