Tree Pipit
Tree Pipit.
Just after bathing in pool.
Been a terrible year for these here like a lot of other species in the forest. Not much luck with pool birds either -pools all over the place !!
D200
Sigma 100-300mm

400 ISO 125th @f11
Contrast down in camera.
PSP7 and neat image.

that's a very nice one John, I like the bird's pose and nice warm feather colouring. My bird ID skills are not sophisticated enough to tell these apart from Meadow Pipits, so I've no idea whether I see these around my patch (probably not though!).

Nice image John, sharp and nice and warm, (morning light?).

Matt, a local bird spotter did a nice quote for pipits "As you all know, Tree and Meadow Pipits can only be identified by what they land on after their display flight: if it lands in a tree it's a Tree Pipit, if it lands on anything else (such as the ground, a wall, a car, the one-armed drummer from Def Leppard) then it's a Meadow Pipit."

Thanks .
Meadow pipit is one of my bogey birds. I have very little. There are quite a good number of tree pips around here where I live but they don't come to the pool very often.
Paul -it was in fact late afternoon but the low light filtering through the leaves does funny things !
Cheers
