I was digging through some old stuff from New Mexico, this is Valley of Fire state rec area near Alamogordo. Some of the nastiest country I've seen... a place where even the clouds aren't fluffy.

Nature, beautiful in its own special way. (At least it ain't asphalt.)

Does the top part of the sky look noisy on your screen?

I do detect a bit of noise in the sky, Nat, but it's not objectionable. I really like the cloud. Have you played with this in B&W? Appropriate title BTW.

I love the whimsical title! This is nice, but wouldn't be nearly so without those awesome clouds. Caps off the shot perfectly.

The cloud tops it off, nice. Finding a place to sit would be a thorny problem. Oh yeah, that's a good one.

I don't see any noise on my monitor. The clouds do make this image work.

There's definitely visible noise at top, but i like the shot, great backlighting.

This is cool. I really like the cactus on the right. Looks like a stick animal ready for a fight. Thanks for posting.

There's a couple nice cactus there for you to sit on

Yup,
You haven't lived until you've had to pull cholla cactus off your butt.

The yucca repetition pattern in the clouds is pretty nifty.

Neat scene, Nat. I agree with Chuck - the cloud / yucca relationship lends a lot to this.

I see noise. And I think the image can be focused even more by square cropping to eliminate the immediate foreground. Just food for thought if you're playing around. Excellent find!
