Or "Days of Future Past" for those Moody Blues fans.
I took this image the winter we moved to the Wet Mountain Valley (about two years ago)and would like your opinion of it. The "HDR" appearance is due to some snowfall on the trees on the lower part of the mountains. Very little processing was done other than levels. Thanks for looking.
...and yes, this is a front porch shot.

I think the reds/yellows are greatly over-saturated. I don't know what camera you're shooting, but one of the shortfalls of my 5D is the way it interprets reds and oranges in the "landscape" picture style. If you're shooting a Canon cam w/picture styles, that might be the problem.

I'll vouch for that.

It's a beautiful image, but I agree that it is Magenta Heavy a tad too saturated accross the board. I love the tack sharp image however and the composition. With the cloudless sky I might have framed a bit lower but the foreground was too dark to allow for that.

To me, the Moon is too high, which leads to too much sky. The bottom half of the photo is incredible. Thanks for sharing.
By the way, you really live in the Wet Mountain Valley? Wow!

The composition and clarity is spot on, but like some above I think the reds are a little over saturated - at least for my tastes. Boy, what a view to have from your porch!.

So, Todd, and Stan. Do you shoot in Standard mode? I am new to the 5d, and I've noticed this problem with processing reds. And since I have always liked Velvia, I set mine on the landscape mode. Oh, and Rand, I agree with most of the other comments. But I like the shot.

Hi Rand. I agree this is nice and sharp with incredible light. The moon is a bit high for me as well. The colors don't bother me so much but could be reined in a bit...matter of taste. Quite a nice view you have. While we were on the hunt for retirement property, we looked pretty extensively in the Westcliffe area. Decided against it for lack of adequate medical facilities. I used to shoot my 5D in landscape mode but switched to standard. You can always mess with it again in digital photo professional working up your RAW.
