24mp full frame 5fps, at a launch price of just shy of $3000  now they just need a few telephoto lenses to go with it

They won't win any awards for designing attractive looking cameras though..what a beast of a thing!?

but have you checked out the high noise at iso400 on the test shots at dpreview, mind you we don't know what sort of jpg level they used to save the files, best wait for a full report I think.

I dont think its raised the bar, but i do think it will stir the hornets nest a little more.

I've used an a200 for a while and i must admit though a useable camera the AF is still not in the same league as Canon and Nikon. The same can largely be said for Pentax too though it surprises me that there isnt at least one Pentax user on the forum.

granted this camera might not be up to Nikon/Canon standards in all departments, but it's forcing competition, technology is evolving and body prices are coming down which has to be a good thing in the long run for us all and our understanding wives!...ooh not forgetting the understanding bank managers

Thats one retro looking camera-will be interesting to see a head to head but agree that having the body is one thing-now where are the lenses

Hi Dave any of the Minolta AF lenses that includes the G series of professional lenses, it is going to be quite a interesting camera especially for studio work, if it has the same noise reduction algorithms as the new firmware for the a700 (on its release that is the a 900) the image quality will be a lot better than the images that have been posted.

And at the price point they are pitching it at with some of the zeiss lenses that are being manufactured for it, the old Minolta 85mm f1.8 is probably one of the sharpest lenses ever made by any manufacturer if they bring that kind of quality I could see quite a few fine art and landscape photographers using them.

Phil.
