Another photo from my recent trip to southwestern Oregon. This was up the rogue river, hand held, from a jet boat (some help from the IS lens). I would have liked a little more detail in the whites, and a slightly less busy background, but I'm fairly happy with it.

Ryan,

You sure nailed the focus on the eyes! I'm no photoshop expert, but I'd like to see a little more detail in the whites as well. To me, I honestly don't notice the background as that is just such a beautiful bird.

Good shot. I agree about the white.

There isn't too much more I can get back from the whites. This went down fast and pretty much had everything set to auto for this one. Thinking back on it I probably should have set things up manually for the sunny conditions and shot everthing that way. I may dink around with it more, but any detail in the whites would probably be something I created artificially beyond curves or other methods of highlight recovery.

I really like this "eye level" capture Ryan. Your photo captures nicely the detail of the ospreys powerful wings, the bright whites have already been mentioned but a good shot all in all.

Great catch for a guy who can't see, LOL. Can't wait to see what you get when the old eyes are proper again.
