Fall color in Bishop Canyon a couple of years back.
Hope I didn't scare anyone w/ that title. The trees are lit by the sun light with shadow in the background so the lighting to me looks like fire. I don't know why I'm explaning that.
Guess I could of named it Firey Fall Color Glow or something.
Shot this one w/ the D70 w/ that 70-300mm nikkor lens focuses real slow. Makes that noise gzzzzzz gzzzzzzz.
Never played w/ in PS because at the time I couldn't handle the processing.
It's 600 pixels the 720 was too big in file size to post.

Well, for sure you got me scared with that title! Nice shot. Actually, I'm looking at this on a laptop, and will later take a look on a decent monitor, but I like how the fall colors seem to glow. The one leafless tree on the left is a bit distracting imho. When did you take this photo? I'd love to go up there this fall- I miss the seasons here down in LA.

Steve,
I just love it when the aspens are lit like this. I like that you've filled the frame with the glowing aspen, yet also left a little of the background up top.
Thankfully nothing bad going on there, just some good old aspen tree photos taking place. I really like the landscape or pano approach to this capture, providing the three layers to the scene from FG to the distant BG. The blazing (colorful) aspens are great in the MG here too. Hard to pickup excellent detail at times depending upon light and obviosuly any wind (quaking) movement, but this is excellent in the overall detail department, Steve.

Thanks Henry. It was taken Oct 10 2006 in the mid morning. The lens I shot it w/ never really gave me much of anything sharp. I hear there are plenty of people here in this forum heading that way at different times. I think there will be a gathering at some point. Too early to tell. We get some fall color down here in the Santa Monica Mountians in November through December.

Thanks, Lon and Paul. With better optics now and w/ out the wind hopefully I can catch some better detail.

Steve,
I'm sorry, but I don't appreciate deceptive titles to get views.

That's ok Michie. That wasn't an intention. Just like "Fire in the Sky" used as a common name for many landscape photos isn't an intention to get views. It's just a name. Finding some orange in the sierra isn't that uncommon but for me it was my first time and it looked like fire to me.

Nice to see some color! Looking forward to this year's fall show. Crossing my fingers, anyway.
What kind of trees turn in Santa Monica mt.s? Sycamores and some oaks?

Teasing people with old images is fun. Mostly sycamore for fall color and some poison oak. I don't think the oaks turn much at all.
Steve,
Had me worried with your title, but this is a nicely composed and very colorful image. Like everyone else, looking forward to this year's show. Regards.

Nice one Steve. (The photo and the title) Considering the previous comments about the visitor center burning I was like aghggh! before clicking on this.

Scary title, but beautiful image. Really like the layering of 'seasons' in this one

Makes me even more anxious for fall.
